Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Farida Waziri, has called on former governors, lawmakers, traditional rulers, and other key stakeholders in Benue State to put aside their political differences and urgently act to protect citizens from ongoing attacks and killings.

Waziri, who is also a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police and Principal Partner at Brookfield Chambers, Abuja, made the call on Saturday while donating relief materials to victims of recent attacks in Yelwata community and to displaced persons at an IDP camp in Makurdi, the state capital.

The donation, made through her NGO — the Women, Youth, Children and Crime Organisation — included bags of rice, sugar, and tubers of yam, according to a statement by Austine Willimas.

Waziri stressed that the current security situation demands unity, not political rivalry.

> “Act with urgency, act with purpose because what we face now increasingly resembles a deliberate, coordinated effort to erase our people and our heritage,” she warned.

She further noted that merely holding meetings would not resolve the crisis.

> “But let us be sincere: peace will not come from meetings alone. To end the cycle of violence, we must confront its roots,” she said.
