WhatsApp has launched an impressive new feature that lets users automatically send high-resolution photos and videos in HD quality. No more need to manually choose the HD option every time you share media. Here’s what you should know:

How it works:

For iOS and Android Users: The HD quality setting is now available under the “Storage and Data” menu in WhatsApp’s settings.

Photo Resolution: Standard quality reduces iPhone photos to 960×1280 pixels, while HD quality maintains the original resolution of 3024×4032 pixels.

Compression: Although some compression still occurs, it’s significantly less aggressive than before.

Improved Video Quality: Last year, WhatsApp introduced a similar feature for videos. When enabled, videos are sent in 720p resolution instead of 480p, providing better quality without excessive data usage.

How to Enable It:

1. Update WhatsApp: Ensure you have the latest version of WhatsApp installed on your device.

2. Rollout: It might take some time for the new feature to appear on your device.

With this new update, WhatsApp aims to improve the media-sharing experience for its users to enjoy sharper photos and videos.

A brief history:

WhatsApp was founded by Brian Acton and co-founded by Jan Koum in February 2009. The two men were former employees of Yahoo at the time. Their aim was to create an effective, ad-free, and fast messaging platform in which they succeeded in doing. Ever since, WhatsApp has grown to become one of the most popular and most used messaging apps. It connects billions of users instantly and rarely ever glitches.

Over the years, the app has seen several competitors with similar features and functionalities like Telegram, Signal, WeChat, and Viber. Overtime, has introduced features like the disappearing mode, view once, and custom wallpaper for chats.
