Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has expressed concern over Nigeriaโ€™s worsening socio-economic conditions, describing the country as one of the poorest nations in the world despite its abundant natural and human resources.

Obi said it was troubling that a country richly endowed with resources continues to struggle with high levels of poverty, unemployment and economic hardship affecting millions of citizens.

According to him, Nigeria has the potential to achieve significant growth and development but has failed to fully utilise its resources due to poor governance, policy inconsistencies and lack of strategic planning.

He emphasised the need for leaders to focus on investing in critical sectors such as education, healthcare and productive industries to lift citizens out of poverty and stimulate sustainable economic growth.

Obi also urged government at all levels to adopt policies that promote transparency, accountability and efficient management of national resources.

He maintained that with the right leadership and commitment to reforms, Nigeria can reverse its economic challenges and move towards a path of prosperity and stability.
