United States President Donald Trump has warned that Washington may take military action against Nigeria if the alleged killings of Christians continue.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said he had directed the Department of War to โ€œprepare for possible actionโ€ and threatened to cut off all U.S. aid to Nigeria if the attacks persist.

President Bola Tinubu rejected Trumpโ€™s claim, saying it misrepresents Nigeriaโ€™s reality and that the country remains committed to religious freedom.

Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga also dismissed the genocide allegations as exaggerated, stressing that Nigeriaโ€™s security challenges are not driven by religion.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said talks are ongoing with U.S. officials to address the concerns diplomatically.
