The Federal Government has begun moves to modernise Nigeriaโs police training institutions as part of efforts to build a 21st-century police force equipped with modern skills and technology.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, said the reform aims to upgrade infrastructure, introduce digital learning tools, and retrain instructors to meet global policing standards. He noted that a modern police system requires not only advanced facilities but also training in technology-driven crime prevention and intelligence gathering.
Gaidam added that the move aligns with President Bola Tinubuโs renewed hope agenda to strengthen internal security and enhance public trust in law enforcement agencies. The ministry, he said, will partner with local and international experts to ensure sustainable implementation.
