Wema Bank has celebrated outstanding Nigerian teachers with โ‚ฆ4.5 million worth of prizes in its 2025 Wema @ 80 Teachersโ€™ Day Campaign, held at the bankโ€™s headquarters in Marina, Lagos.

The event, themed โ€œCelebrating Teachers with a Legacy of Impact,โ€ honoured educators whose efforts have shaped generations of students. Wema Bankโ€™s MD/CEO, Moruf Oseni, described teachers as โ€œunsung heroesโ€ whose dedication builds strong nations.

He said, โ€œWe are honoured to celebrate educators who have impacted lives and communities. This initiative reflects our 80-year commitment to empowering people and driving positive change.โ€

The top three winners were Abraham Ngobiri, founder of Teens-Train (โ‚ฆ2m); Esther Adesada, founder of Heritage X Foundation (โ‚ฆ1.5m); and Taiwo Alabi, founder of Educycle (โ‚ฆ1m).

Ngobiri said the recognition โ€œmakes teachers feel seen and valued,โ€ while Adesada called it โ€œa huge motivation in a year of self-doubt.โ€ Alabi added that the award โ€œinspires every teacher striving to shape the next generation.โ€

The campaign, launched in September 2025, invited students and alumni to post 80-second videos celebrating memorable teachers. Ten finalists were shortlisted, with three emerging winners after a rigorous judging process.
