𝐓𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐛𝐮 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭’𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐮 – 𝐒𝐀

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (South-East), Mrs Chioma Wesley, has said that President Bola Tinubu will not make any public statement or intervention in the ongoing trial of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, until the court delivers its verdict.

Wesley made the clarification during an interactive session with community leaders and stakeholders in Enugu on Sunday. She emphasized that the president believes in the rule of law and would not interfere in judicial processes, especially on matters before the courts.

According to her, the presidency understands the concerns of many Igbo leaders and groups calling for Kanu’s release but insists that due legal process must be allowed to run its full course.

“The President is aware of the sentiments around Nnamdi Kanu’s case, but he has made it clear that Nigeria operates under the rule of law. He cannot, and will not, interfere in a matter still before the judiciary,” Wesley stated.

She, however, assured the people of the South-East that the Tinubu administration is committed to promoting peace, unity, and economic development in the region. Wesley urged leaders and youth groups to embrace dialogue and avoid actions that could jeopardize ongoing peace efforts.
