The Accord Party has formally distanced itself from its former presidential candidate, Prof. Chris Imumolen, describing his recent political moves as illegal and unauthorised, while declaring support for Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
In a statement issued by its national leadership on Monday, the party said Imumolen no longer has the mandate to speak or act on its behalf, stressing that he ceased to be a member following internal resolutions and court-backed decisions.
Accord accused Imumolen of engaging in actions capable of misleading the public and electoral authorities, insisting that his activities do not reflect the partyโs official position ahead of the next electoral contest in Osun State.
The party leadership reaffirmed that its structure in Osun remains intact and united behind Governor Adeleke, whom it described as a stabilising force whose administration aligns with Accordโs progressive ideals.
According to the statement, the decision to back Adeleke followed extensive consultations with stakeholders at both state and national levels, with the party citing continuity, inclusiveness and developmental governance as key reasons for the endorsement.
Accord further warned the public and political actors to disregard any statements or endorsements issued by Imumolen in the partyโs name, maintaining that only decisions ratified by its recognised national organs remain valid.
The party concluded by urging its members and supporters in Osun State to work closely with the Adeleke administration and mobilise ahead of future political engagements.
