The Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has called on political, traditional and community leaders across Northern Nigeria to take decisive action to address the worsening security situation in the region.
Speaking amid growing concerns over banditry, kidnappings and violent attacks, the ACF chair warned that insecurity continues to threaten lives, economic activities and social stability. He stressed that leaders must prioritise practical solutions and coordinated strategies rather than focusing prematurely on political calculations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, restoring peace in the North requires stronger collaboration between federal and state authorities, security agencies and local communities. He urged stakeholders to invest more in intelligence gathering, youth engagement and economic empowerment as part of a long-term approach to tackling the root causes of violence.
The forum also expressed concern over the humanitarian impact of insecurity, noting that displacement, school closures and loss of livelihoods have placed heavy burdens on affected communities. Observers say the renewed call reflects mounting pressure on leaders to deliver tangible security improvements as public frustration grows.
Political analysts believe the statement could reignite debates around governance priorities and resource allocation, especially as discussions about future elections continue to gain momentum.
