President Bola Tinubu has directed security agencies to enforce a full lockdown of forests in Kwara State following rising cases of kidnappings and terrorist activities reported across several communities.
According to the Presidentโs Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the order mandates a coordinated deployment of military, police and intelligence units to comb affected forest belts and prevent further attacks. He said the move forms part of a wider national response aimed at restoring safety in vulnerable areas.
Ngelale noted that the directive followed briefings from security chiefs on recent violent incidents, including abductions along rural routes bordering Niger and Kogi States. He added that federal and state authorities are expected to work jointly to ensure the โimmediate disruption of criminal networksโ operating within the region.
The Presidency assured residents that the operation would continue until normalcy is restored, urging communities to cooperate with security personnel and report suspicious movements.
