The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has reaffirmed that activist Omoyele Sowore remains a wanted person, vowing that the command will take all lawful measures to arrest and prosecute him.
Jimoh had earlier declared Sowore wanted over alleged acts aimed at disturbing public peace and attempting to obstruct traffic on the Third Mainland Bridge.
Speaking on Channels Televisionโs Sunrise Daily on Wednesday, Jimoh said Sowore has failed to report to the police since the declaration despite earlier communication through his lawyer.
โMy declaration that Sowore is wanted is still in force,โ the Commissioner stated.
He explained that Soworeโs counsel had reached out via text on Monday, promising that the activist would appear at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), but he never did.
โThroughout yesterday he has failed to report, and we are going to do everything within the ambit of the law to get him arrested, investigated, and prosecuted,โ Jimoh added.
The CP also dismissed Soworeโs claims that the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, ordered that he be shot on sight, describing it as โa major misinformation.โ
โThe IGP will never give such an order. For him to say that is both mischievous and inciting. Sowore is planning to cause mayhem across Lagos, and that is why he was declared wanted,โ Jimoh said.
