Umar Damagum, the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called on party leaders and members to remain united and committed to rebuilding the country, stressing that the PDP still has a crucial role to play in rescuing Nigeria despite being in opposition.
Speaking at a stakeholdersโ meeting at the partyโs national secretariat in Abuja, Damagum urged members to focus on strengthening internal structures and promoting unity ahead of future elections. He said Nigeriaโs current challenges require a strong and credible opposition that can offer viable alternatives to governance.
According to him, โThe PDP cannot afford to be divided. Even as an opposition, we have a responsibility to speak for Nigerians and provide leadership that restores hope. Our goal must remain the same โ to rescue and rebuild our nation.โ
Damagum also appealed to aggrieved members to put aside their differences and work collectively toward repositioning the party, adding that Nigerians are looking to the PDP for solutions amid growing economic hardship and insecurity.
