Peter-Obi

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, has attributed the widespread vote buying witnessed in the Anambra governorship election to bad governance and worsening economic hardship.

Speaking after casting his ballot at Polling Unit 019, Agulu ward 2, Anaocha Local Government Area on Saturday, the former Anambra governor lamented that many voters were easily induced because of poverty and poor leadership across the country.

Obi urged political leaders to address the root causes of desperation among voters rather than exploiting their vulnerabilities during elections. He also called on security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to intensify efforts to curb electoral malpractice and safeguard Nigeriaโ€™s democracy.
