Almustapha Malami, younger brother of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has publicly declared support for Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The endorsement was made on Monday in Birnin Kebbi, where Almustapha cited what he described as the โ€œtremendous achievementsโ€ of the Idris administration within its first two years in office as the reason for his decision to align with the All Progressives Congress.

The development has drawn attention due to the political rivalry between Governor Idris and Abubakar Malami, who is believed to be nursing a governorship ambition and has defected from the APC to the African Democratic Congress.

Speaking at the event, Almustapha Malami praised the governorโ€™s impact on the state capital, noting visible improvements in infrastructure and urban development.

โ€œWhether we like it or not, Governor Nasir Idris has transformed Birnin Kebbi and taken the state capital to a level it truly deserves,โ€ he said, adding that a second term would bring even greater development to the state.

He stressed that his support was voluntary and not influenced by pressure or intimidation, insisting that nothing would deter him from backing an administration he believes is delivering on its promises.

โ€œI joined this crusade with a clear conscience and a united mind. Nothing can stop me from supporting a government that is working for the people,โ€ he added.

Reacting, the Kebbi State Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Muhammed Kana Zuru, welcomed Almustapha Malami into the partyโ€™s fold, describing the move as a demonstration of political maturity and clarity.

Kana assured him of full integration into party activities, stating that the APC remained open to all individuals committed to the vision of the Nasir Idris administration and its 2027 re-election bid.
