Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has dismissed as false a viral report claiming he commented on which region should produce Nigeriaโ€™s president in 2027, describing the report as misleading.

El-Rufai, in a brief response circulated on social media on Monday, said he never made such statements and urged the public to disregard the publication. According to him, the report was wrongly attributed to him and did not reflect his views or position on the 2027 presidential contest.

The former governor noted that he has remained cautious about commenting on future elections, stressing that discussions around zoning and succession ahead of time often distract from governance and national priorities.

He also cautioned against the spread of unverified claims, warning that false reports credited to public figures could heighten political tension and misinform the public.

El-Rufai advised media platforms and social media users to verify information before sharing, adding that he would continue to focus on issues of national development rather than speculative political debates.
