WRONG DOINGS OF GOVERNOR SIMINILAYI FUBARA AS HIGHLIGHTED IN PRESIDENT TINUBU’S BROADCAST

1. Defiance of the Supreme Court:
Refused to recognize the 27 lawmakers reinstated by the Supreme Court ruling.
Failed to facilitate the passage of an Appropriation Bill as directed by the court.
2. Unconstitutional Actions and Disregard for the Rule of Law:
Demolished the Rivers State House of Assembly building on December 13, 2023, without justification.
Failed to rebuild the House of Assembly 14 months later, effectively shutting down the legislative arm.
Ruled without a functional legislature, creating an undemocratic and autocratic system of governance.
3. Ignoring Mediation Efforts:
Disregarded personal interventions by President Tinubu and other well-meaning Nigerians who tried to mediate the crisis.
4. Failure to Disown Militant Threats:
Did not condemn or distance himself from militants who threatened violence against his perceived political enemies.
5. Inaction on Security Issues:
Remained silent and took no action after militants vandalized pipelines in the state.
Did not act to prevent or address security threats, allowing the state to become unstable.
6. Failure to Work with the House of Assembly:
Allowed a complete breakdown in governance by refusing to engage with the legislative arm.
Created an unworkable and hostile political environment, preventing governance from functioning properly.
7. Neglecting Responsibilities as Governor:
Allowed Rivers State to be at a standstill, depriving the people of governance and the dividends of democracy.
Failed to request presidential intervention in the crisis, forcing the President to act unilaterally.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s actions, as outlined by President Tinubu, created a constitutional crisis, undermined democracy, and endangered security in Rivers State.
These failures led to the declaration of a state of emergency, his suspension, and the appointment of an administrator to restore order.
