Wike Commends Eno for Leaving PDP, Backing APC Development Agenda

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has praised Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as a sacrifice for the state’s progress.
Wike gave the commendation on Wednesday during the commissioning of the 15.13km Ikot Esu–Otomo–Azumini road in Ika Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
He said Eno’s decision to align with Senate President Godswill Akpabio was a step in the right direction, stressing that unity and collaboration across party lines would attract more development to the state.
> “Unity brings about development. Working together brings development. Putting yourself together to be strong brings about development,” Wike said.
He assured the people of Akwa Ibom that Eno’s partnership with Akpabio would yield more federal presence and infrastructure in the state.
The FCT Minister also hailed the governor’s commitment to development, pointing to the newly commissioned road project as proof of his leadership focus.
Citing President Bola Tinubu’s leadership style, Wike noted that the current administration has made resources available to states for meaningful projects, reiterating his belief that progress should come before party loyalty.
In his remarks, Governor Eno emphasized the importance of unity in driving growth. He thanked the Abia State Government for its collaboration on the road project, which links communities across state boundaries.
Eno also reaffirmed Akwa Ibom’s support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid, noting that the president has taken steps to stabilize the economy.
> “We are united to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his second term because of all he is doing. We know where he took over from, and we can see that the economy is stabilizing,” the governor said.
