We Overcame Many Challenges’ — LASU Female First-Class Graduates Share Their Journey to Success

Five exceptional female law graduates from Lagos State University (LASU) who recently earned first-class honours at the Nigerian Law School have shared inspiring stories of determination, sacrifice, and resilience as they celebrated their success at the recent Call to Bar ceremony.
Among them is Maryam Lawal, who emerged as the second-best graduating student nationwide. She described the emotional rollercoaster she experienced upon hearing the news.
“I’ve felt so many emotions since the day I found out. I was stunned, overwhelmed, even numb,” Maryam recalled. “I was on a bus heading home when my friend called, screaming with excitement that I was the second-best graduating student. I remember feeling hot all over — I was in shock.”
Though she occasionally fantasised about such an achievement while in law school, Maryam said her main goal was simply to make a first class and become a “double first-class lawyer.”
“Now that it has happened, I feel truly elated,” she added.
