We know how to handle Nigeria, Angolan captain boasts
Angola’s captain, Fredy, has boasted that his team would continue its dominance over Nigeria when they meet in the quarterfinals of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire on Friday.
Fredy, who declared that the Palanca Negras fear nobody at the ongoing AFCON, recalled that his side stopped Nigeria from qualifying for the 2006 World Cup, adding that Angola has shown that it is also a force in the continent’s football.
Fredy created both chances for Dala to score two goals against the Brave Warriors of Namibia in their round of 16 all-southern Africa affair last Saturday.
He said football has become their way of helping their compatriots manage the current economic squeeze in Angola, adding that they plan to stay in Cote d’Ivoire until the final game.
“Economically, times are tough for many Angolans so I hope our qualification for the quarterfinal has lifted spirits back home. We came to Cote d’Ivoire as outsiders, but we are in the quarterfinal now.

“But being written off by many observers motivated us. We believe in our abilities as footballers and are raring to go against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
“Once again, we will be the underdogs and once again, we will be determined to prove the forecasters wrong. We are proud Angolans and fear no team,” the Angolan skipper stated.
