WAFCON: Benue Governor Rewards Ordega with ₦50m, House, and Street Name

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has honoured Super Falcons star Francesca Ordega for her performance at the just-concluded 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
At a dinner held Thursday night at the Government House Banquet Hall in Makurdi, Alia announced a ₦50 million cash gift, a three-bedroom house in Makurdi, and the naming of a street after the Benue-born footballer.
The governor praised Ordega’s resilience and urged young girls in the state to follow her example, while also awarding ₦10 million to the coach who discovered and trained her in Benue.
“Today, we celebrate victory with one of our own — a true ambassador of Benue who has represented us in the last five WAFCON tournaments,” Alia said, calling on parents to support daughters interested in sports.
