US Lawmaker, Moore Warns Against Nigeria’s Break-Up

United States Congressman Riley M. Moore has dismissed claims that the United States supports any move to break up Nigeria, warning that separatist agitations would worsen insecurity and further endanger Christian communities.

Moore made the remarks while reacting to narratives suggesting foreign backing for Nigeria’s disintegration. He stressed that the US government does not support the break-up of Nigeria and remains committed to the country’s unity and stability.

According to the lawmaker, encouraging separatist agendas would only deepen existing security challenges, fuel violence, and expose vulnerable groups—particularly Christian communities—to greater risks.

He noted that Nigeria’s problems require solutions rooted in dialogue, good governance, and strengthened institutions rather than division, adding that instability in Africa’s most populous nation would have far-reaching regional and global consequences.

Moore urged political leaders and stakeholders to focus on reforms that promote national cohesion, peace, and protection of fundamental rights across all communities.
