UNIMED Registrar Assassinated Six Months After Appointment – Police Confirm

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed that Mr. Ezekiel Adeniran, the Registrar of the University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo State, was assassinated.

Mr. Adeniran, 41, was appointed in January 2025. His lifeless body was discovered in his residence in Akure, the state capital, in the early hours of Thursday.

Speaking on the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Olayinka Ayanlade, said the case was a clear assassination.

“The man died early Thursday. I can confirm he was killed,” Ayanlade stated. “From the information available, two men emerged from the bush and allegedly forced a substance into another person’s mouth. While details on the exact location remain unclear, our focus is on identifying those responsible.”

He urged members of the public with any relevant information to come forward, assuring them of confidentiality.

Meanwhile, UNIMED’s management has also confirmed the incident. In a statement signed by the Head of Media and Protocol, Mr. Isaac Oluyi, the institution expressed deep sorrow over the registrar’s sudden death.
