The United Nations has condemned the killing of 63 people, including soldiers, in Darajamal, Bama LGA of Borno State, during an attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists.

The UN Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, Mohammed Fall, described the incident as “deeply appalling,” stressing that civilians should never be a target.

According to preliminary reports:

Over 50 civilians were killed.

An unknown number were abducted.

28 houses were burned.

Many fled with injuries.

This attack adds to the devastation of the Boko Haram insurgency, which since 2009 has claimed over 35,000 lives and displaced more than 2 million people across Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States.

The UN urged Nigerian authorities to arrest the perpetrators and bring justice to the victims’ families.
