Nigerian troops have intensified their nationwide crackdown on criminal elements, rejecting a ₦13.7 million bribe from terrorists, neutralising two bandits, and arresting several suspected arms couriers — including members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Markus Kangye, disclosed this on Thursday during a press briefing in Abuja. He highlighted military operations conducted between July 9 and 16, 2025.

According to Kangye, troops of Operation Safe Haven intercepted a bullet-riddled vehicle along the Jos–Sanga Road in Plateau State. Two suspects in the vehicle attempted to bribe the soldiers with ₦13,742,000 to secure their release.

> “The troops rejected the bribe, arrested the suspects, and recovered weapons, ammunition, a vehicle, and the cash,” he said.

Kangye also confirmed that offensive operations were carried out across Plateau, Kaduna, and Nasarawa States. These led to:

Neutralisation of two bandits in an ambush at Nteng, Qua’an Pan LGA, Plateau.
