Troops Arrest Eight Kidnap Suspects, Rescue Two Victims in Kwara

Troops of the 22 Armoured Brigade, stationed at the Forward Operating Base in Patigi, Kwara State, have successfully apprehended eight suspected kidnappers and rescued two hostages during a tactical operation.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by Lt. Stephen Nwankwo, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the Brigade in Ilorin, the operation was carried out on Saturday based on credible intelligence.
The troops targeted a suspected kidnapper hideout located on the outskirts of Latandaji Village in Patigi Local Government Area. Despite encountering mild resistance, the troops overpowered the criminals with superior firepower.
Two kidnapped victims—Amos Moses and Philip Michael—were rescued during the operation, while eight suspects were taken into custody.
One of the suspects, identified as Mohammed Mohammed, sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter and has been taken to a hospital for treatment.
The Army also recovered two motorcycles and two expended cartridge shells believed to have been used by the kidnappers during the mission.
