Tributes as UBTH CMD Darlington Obaseki Bows Out

The outgoing Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Professor Darlington Obaseki, was honoured on Friday with tributes during a valedictory ceremony and book launch at the hospital.
Former Edo State Deputy Governor and current Director-General of the National Institute of Sports, Philip Shaibu, praised Obaseki’s passion for infrastructure and healthcare development. He recalled Obaseki’s pivotal role in Edo’s successful hosting of the National Sports Festival during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as his contribution to the “Immunisation Under One Roof” initiative, now adopted as a national policy.
Shaibu described him as a leader committed to both the hospital’s growth and the welfare of its staff, urging him to continue contributing to public service.
Also speaking, Dr. Imafidon Agbonile, CMD of the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, lauded Obaseki’s leadership, noting that UBTH saw significant expansion under his tenure.
