Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure up to 80% of votes from the South-East in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking in Ntalakwu, Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State, Kalu described the projected support as the Igbo people’s way of showing appreciation for Tinubu’s developmental efforts in the region. His remarks were contained in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu.

Kalu praised Tinubu for taking unprecedented steps in addressing the region’s long-standing challenges, citing the recent signing and funding of the South East Development Commission (SEDC) as a major milestone.

“No other president since the end of the civil war has honoured the promises made to the Igbo people like President Tinubu,” Kalu stated. “Many administrations came and went, but none fulfilled those commitments. Tinubu not only signed the SEDC bill into law, but he also funded it despite skepticism.”

He urged the people of the South-East to continue promoting peace and unity, adding that the region recognizes and reciprocates genuine gestures of goodwill.
