President Bola Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians in the diaspora to contribute their skills, expertise, and resources towards building a stronger and more prosperous nation.

Speaking on Thursday at the Kahala Hotel and Resort, Yokohama, Japan, during a meeting with members of the Nigerian community on the sidelines of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), the President emphasized the crucial role of the diaspora in national growth.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the gathering brought together Nigerian professionals and entrepreneurs across various sectors. President Tinubu highlighted his administration’s achievements and reassured them of his commitment to economic stability and growth.

Tinubu expressed joy at meeting what he described as a “vibrant representation of Nigeria’s diversity,” assuring them that his government is working to make the country more conducive for its citizens.

He was joined by the Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Enoh, and the Executive Vice Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, who spoke on government programmes and reforms.

The President reaffirmed that “Nigeria is on the rise again”, stressing that leadership must combine visionary thinking with practical actions. He cited improvements in passport issuance as one of the steps taken to make life easier for Nigerians at home and abroad.

While acknowledging that some citizens may remain overseas for economic reasons, Tinubu urged the diaspora community not to distance themselves from the nation’s progress.
