A pro-Tinubu group in Ondo State — the Progressive Network for Tinubu (PNT) — has cautioned former President Goodluck Jonathan against running in the 2027 presidential election, saying it would “end in embarrassment.”

The warning follows social media reports that Jonathan may contest in 2027 under an undisclosed political party. It also comes after a lawyer, Johnmary Jideobi, filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking to bar Jonathan from contesting again.

Speaking at an event inaugurating local government structures of the group, PNT Director-General Olumide Obadele said:

The 2027 election is a “done deal” for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP, Labour Party, and ADC are “on life support” and lack the national reach to challenge President Bola Tinubu.

Constitutional restrictions make Jonathan’s return unlikely.

Obadele added that PNT was focused on boosting voter participation, especially in Ondo State, where turnout was only 28% in the last elections. The group aims to mobilize grassroots support for Tinubu and counter political apathy among elites.

Meanwhile, civil society groups in Delta State have condemned the lawsuit against Jonathan, calling it politically motivated and an abuse of court process.
