Tinubu has unlocked council potential, says Adeolu Akande
Adeolu Akande, a professor of political science and senatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Oyo North, has said President Bola Tinubu’s policies have unlocked the potential of local governments across Nigeria.
Speaking during an interview, Akande argued that recent reforms have strengthened grassroots governance, giving local councils more capacity to function effectively and deliver development at the community level.
The APC chieftain, who has served as a journalist, university lecturer, presidential aide, Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, and immediate past Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), highlighted his experience as a key asset in his senatorial ambition.
He outlined his vision for Oyo North, focusing on infrastructure development, education, youth empowerment and improved economic opportunities for constituents. According to him, effective representation at the National Assembly requires both experience and a deep understanding of policy and governance.
Akande also spoke on internal party dynamics, expressing confidence in the APC’s strength and its ability to remain competitive ahead of the 2027 elections.
He emphasised the need for unity within the party and urged stakeholders to work together to achieve electoral success and deliver meaningful development to the people.
Observers say his comments reflect ongoing political positioning and engagement as aspirants begin to outline their agendas ahead of the next election cycle.
