Tinubu Extends Customs CG Adeniyi’s Tenure by One Year

President Bola Tinubu has approved a one-year extension for the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, whose tenure was initially set to end on August 31, 2025. He will now remain in office until August 2026.
According to a statement by Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga, the extension allows Adeniyi to consolidate ongoing reforms, including:
Customs Service modernisation
National Single Window Project implementation
Nigeria’s commitments under the AfCFTA
Onanuga noted that the President acknowledged Adeniyi’s leadership and dedication, expressing confidence that the extra year would enhance the Customs’ roles in trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.
Adeniyi was appointed as Comptroller-General in October 2023.
