Tinubu departs London after historic state visit
President Bola Tinubu has departed London following the conclusion of a two-day state visit to the United Kingdom at the invitation of the British royal family.
The President, who was accompanied by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, had earlier left Abuja on Tuesday, March 17, for the official engagement hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
During the visit, Tinubu participated in a series of diplomatic and economic meetings aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and the United Kingdom. Discussions reportedly focused on trade expansion, investment opportunities, security cooperation and cultural exchange.
Officials described the trip as a significant milestone in Nigeria–UK relations, noting that high-level engagements provided a platform for deeper collaboration across key sectors of the economy.
The President also interacted with members of the Nigerian community in the UK and key business stakeholders, highlighting Nigeria’s commitment to fostering international partnerships that support economic growth and development.
Following the conclusion of the engagements, Tinubu departed London on Thursday night, marking the end of what government sources termed a historic state visit intended to advance strategic cooperation between both countries.
