President Bola Tinubu has appointed a committee chaired by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, to resolve the lingering crisis within the Bauchi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The panel includes Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni; former Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara; Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Abdullahi Abubakar Gumel; Senior Special Assistant to the President (Political), Alhaji Ibrahim Masari; and Alhaji Usman Abubakar Gotomo. Prof. Jake Dan-Azumi, Chief of Staff to the Speaker, will serve as secretary.

A statement by the Speaker’s media aide, Musa Krishi, confirmed that the committee held its inaugural meeting in Abuja in late July, focusing on strategies to address the internal disputes, which date back to the APC’s 2015 primaries in the state.

Tinubu reportedly selected the members for their integrity, track record, and capacity to mediate fairly. The committee has been given one month to complete its work ahead of the party’s forthcoming congresses.

The group plans a fact-finding mission to meet with relevant stakeholders in Bauchi as part of its resolution efforts.
