The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chapters in Sokoto and Kebbi states have declared their readiness to join forces with any political coalition aiming to unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.

In Sokoto, party stakeholders led by former governor and current Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Tambuwal, announced plans to dump the PDP for the newly formed All Democratic Alliance (ADA). The ADA is among 110 political parties currently seeking registration with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Meanwhile, Kebbi PDP stakeholders have also signalled their willingness to align with any coalition or alliance formed to challenge the APC’s hold on power at both state and national levels.

A party source told The PUNCH that the decision in Sokoto followed a stakeholders’ meeting held on Saturday, where members agreed the PDP needed a fresh strategy to remain competitive ahead of the 2027 elections.

The moves highlight growing discontent within the PDP in the North West and add momentum to wider efforts by opposition figures to build a united front against the ruling APC.
