Suspected Herdsmen Attack SGF Akume’s Village 48 Hours After Tinubu’s Visit

Suspected herdsmen have reportedly launched a deadly attack on Wannune, the hometown of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume. The village is located in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State.
Sources told Daily Post that the assault left several people dead and many others injured, plunging the community into chaos and panic.
The incident occurred just 48 hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to Benue State, where he pledged to tackle the escalating insecurity in the region.
A youth corps member serving in the area described the scene as terrifying.
> “Everyone is running into the bushes for safety. Please let Nigerians pray for us. The herdsmen are ravaging the environment now,” the corps member pleaded in a distress message, urging immediate intervention by security forces.
The fresh attack raises serious concerns about the effectiveness of the president’s recent visit and his directives to security agencies.
