Kano, Nigeria — The Emir of Kano and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Muhammadu Sanusi II, has cautioned ministers and presidential aides against turning themselves into praise singers instead of giving the President honest advice.

Sanusi warned that flattery and blind loyalty can harm good governance and worsen the nation’s economic challenges. He stressed that leaders need advisers who can speak the truth and provide constructive guidance, not just echo approval.

He said that courage in giving honest advice is crucial for saving the country from economic difficulties and ensuring effective decision-making. According to Sanusi, genuine leadership thrives on honesty and accountability, and those around the President must prioritize the nation’s welfare over personal interests.

His remarks come at a time when Nigeria is facing significant economic pressures, highlighting the need for integrity, transparency, and truthful counsel in governance.
