The Osun State Amotekun Corps has accused a soldier, identified as Opejobi Fiyinfoluwa, of killing one of its operatives, 35-year-old Samuel Tope, in Ijeda-Ijesa community.

According to a statement by the Corps Commander, Mr. Adekunle Omoyele, the incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday. Fiyinfoluwa, reportedly in military uniform and accompanied by unknown individuals, allegedly launched an unprovoked attack on Tope, striking him on the head with a blunt object and leaving him critically injured.

Tope was rushed to Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa, but died early Sunday morning from his injuries.

The statement revealed that the soldier had earlier approached the Amotekun post in Ijebu-Jesa with hostile intentions and even claimed he joined the army to “deal decisively” with Amotekun officers. The fatal assault allegedly took place while Tope was riding a motorcycle, which the soldier and his accomplices stopped before launching the attack.
