Seun Kuti, son of late Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, has fired back at Wizkid following a series of insults exchanged on social media.

The tension began last week after Seun criticised Wizkid’s fanbase for what he described as disrespectful comparisons between the Grammy-winning singer and his father, Fela Kuti. According to Seun, such comparisons diminish the cultural, political, and musical legacy of the Afrobeat pioneer.

The disagreement escalated on Tuesday evening when Wizkid took to his Instagram Stories, posting multiple messages aimed at Seun, including referring to him as a “short man.” The posts quickly went viral, sparking widespread debate among fans of both artistes.

In response, Seun Kuti addressed the issue, standing by his earlier position and insisting that his comments were about protecting his father’s legacy, not attacking Wizkid personally. He maintained that Fela’s influence transcends commercial success and should not be reduced to online fan arguments.

The exchange has since divided social media users, with some backing Wizkid’s achievements in modern Afrobeats, while others sided with Seun, emphasizing Fela Kuti’s historical impact on African music and activism.
