Senate Set To Go On Recess On Friday, Fixes Resumption Date
The Senate has announced it will embark on a recess starting Friday, December 1.
The announcement was made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday, shortly after President Bola Tinubu presented the 2024 budget to the National Assembly in a joint session.
Senator Akpabio also revealed that the Senate would reconvene on December 12, 2023. Upon resumption, the lawmakers will entertain the defence of the 2024 budget by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government.

To ensure maximum attention to the budget defence, Senate President Akpabio has requested that President Tinubu mandate all ministers and heads of agencies to avoid travelling engagements that would prevent them from honouring the Senate’s invitation to defend their budget estimates before relevant committees.
The Senate President reiterated the National Assembly’s readiness to support the administration, adding that “our legislative agenda reflects our dedication to the Nigerian people, and we look forward to achieving remarkable milestones for our great nation under your purposeful leadership.”
