Senate awaits judgment copy before recalling Natasha – Spokesperson

The Nigerian Senate says it cannot recall suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan until it receives and reviews the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the court judgment ordering her reinstatement.
Senator Yemi Adaramodu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, disclosed this on Sunday in Abuja during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended on March 6, 2025, for six months following a disagreement with the Senate leadership over a change of her seat. Her suspension, recommended by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions, also led to the withdrawal of her salary, security details, and access to the National Assembly.
Challenging the suspension, she approached the Federal High Court in Abuja. Justice Binta Nyako ruled in her favour, directing the Senate to recall her, but also fined her ₦5 million for contempt.
Adaramodu explained that the Senate had applied for the CTC of the judgment since Monday and would only decide its next steps after carefully studying the document.
