Rivers Peace Efforts Yielding Results – Fubara
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has commended the growing atmosphere of peace across the state, saying recent reconciliation efforts are producing positive results.
Fubara said genuine development can only take place in an environment of unity and stability. He stated this at a civic reception organised in honour of his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, at Government Secondary School, Akabuka, in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area.
According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, the governor noted that peace has returned to the state following months of political tension.
“We can’t develop in an environment of chaos. We can’t attract any project to Akabuka when there is a problem. Our focus has always been to maintain peace because it’s the only way we can move forward,” Fubara said.
He added that the growing unity among political stakeholders, who now attend public events together, shows that the state is healing from past divisions.
The governor also announced plans to rehabilitate internal roads in Akabuka and renovate Government Secondary School in the community.
“As soon as we leave here, the process of assessing the roads will begin, while the Ministry of Education will inspect this school for prompt renovation,” he said.
Fubara expressed appreciation to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for his role in his emergence as governor, adding that he did not take the support for granted. He also commended traditional rulers, youths, and women for promoting peace and standing by his deputy.
In her remarks, Odu expressed gratitude for the honour, saying the large turnout reflected the peace and unity in the community. She thanked Governor Fubara, President Bola Tinubu, Wike, and former Governor Peter Odili for their roles in her career.
