The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that he and his political allies remain firmly in control of Rivers State despite the lingering political crisis and power tussle with Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Wike made the assertion while addressing his supporters, insisting that recent political developments in the state have not diminished his influence or that of his loyalists within the Rivers State political structure.

According to the former governor, control of the state does not rest solely on occupying the Government House but on the strength of political structures, lawmakers, and grassroots support. He maintained that the political machinery he built while in office remains intact and firmly under his control.

Wike further dismissed claims that Governor Fubara has fully consolidated power, stating that the ongoing crisis within the Rivers State House of Assembly and the division among political stakeholders clearly shows that the struggle for control is far from over.

The political crisis in Rivers State began months ago following a fallout between Wike and his successor, Governor Fubara, leading to a sharp division in the state legislature and a series of legal and political battles that have disrupted governance.

Despite calls from various quarters for reconciliation, tensions between both camps remain high, with each side insisting it holds the legitimate authority in the state.

Wike reaffirmed his loyalty to the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the national level, while stressing that he would continue to protect his political interests and those of his supporters in Rivers State.

Meanwhile, Governor Fubara has repeatedly stated that his administration is focused on governance and development, assuring residents that political distractions will not derail his commitment to delivering good governance.

The crisis continues to draw national attention as stakeholders watch closely to see how the power struggle will ultimately be resolved.
