Reps Query AGF Over N2.4tn Paid to Contractors

The House of Representatives has asked the Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, to provide a detailed account of the ₦2.4 trillion recently disbursed to contractors handling federal projects.
The resolution came after officials from the AGF’s office confirmed that the funds had already been released. However, lawmakers expressed concern that such massive spending has not translated into tangible results across the country.
Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee on Budget Implementation, Benjamin Kalu, warned contractors against presenting fake certificates of project completion. He stressed that ₦2.4 trillion is too significant an amount for Nigerians not to see real, measurable development.
“It is wicked to declare a hospital complete when patients still die without beds. It is fraudulent to claim classrooms have been built when children still study under trees. Every kobo must match visible results. No more paper projects, no more lies,” Kalu said
