Popular Nigerian Afrobeats star, Rema, has revealed that the online trolling he faced early in his career is now bringing him unexpected benefits.

In a recent video interview shared on social media, Rema reflected on how public criticism of his unique sound contributed to his growth and global recognition.

The singer, who faced skepticism at the start of his career, said that choosing not to give up despite the negative comments turned out to be a major turning point.

> “It’s beautiful to see something people trolled and criticized me for… and I’m benefiting from it,” Rema said. “Imagine if I had stopped or listened to the trolls — like if I thought, ‘Oh, I should switch it off.’ Four years later, it paid off. And there’s more to come.”
