Red Cross Trains Youths Against Drug Abuse, Cybercrime in Lagos Camp

The Lagos branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society has launched its 2025 Youth and Leadership Camp, focused on steering young Nigerians away from drug abuse and cybercrime. The week-long event, which kicked off Tuesday in Lagos, also marks the 60th anniversary of the initiative.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lagos Branch Chairman, Adebola Kolawole, said the camp has empowered generations of youths with leadership skills and strong values.
> “This is not just a camp — it’s a mentorship journey to build responsible citizens,” she said.
The programme includes structured training, mentorship, and certificates for 450 participants, supervised by 50 Red Cross officers.
Branch Secretary Olakunle Lasisi added that the organisation has been actively addressing substance abuse and deviant youth behavior for decades.
> “We attract youth through social activities and educate them on the dangers of drugs, cybercrime, and corruption,” Lasisi explained.
