The Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has called on Islamic clerics and media organisations to use the holy month of Ramadan to promote peace, tolerance, and national unity across the state and the country at large.

Speaking during an engagement with religious leaders and media stakeholders in Kaduna, the governor urged them to leverage their influence to preach messages of harmony, restraint, and mutual respect, especially amid prevailing security and socio-political challenges.

Uba Sani stressed that Ramadan presents a unique opportunity to strengthen peaceful coexistence, noting that clerics and journalists play critical roles in shaping public opinion and guiding society.

“The Ramadan period should be used to promote peace, unity, and tolerance. Religious leaders and the media must work together to discourage hate speech, misinformation, and actions capable of undermining harmony in our communities,” the governor said.

He emphasised that Kaduna State, known for its religious and ethnic diversity, must continue to prioritise dialogue and understanding to prevent conflict, adding that peace remains central to development and economic growth.

The governor also appealed to the media to uphold responsible journalism during the fasting period by promoting factual reporting and content that fosters unity rather than division.

In response, the clerics and media representatives present at the meeting pledged their support for the peace campaign, assuring the government of their commitment to using sermons, broadcasts, and publications to encourage peaceful coexistence throughout Ramadan.
