President Tinubu Submits Revised N1.481 Trillion Rivers State Budget to National Assembly

President Bola Tinubu has submitted a revised 2025 budget proposal for Rivers State, totaling N1.481 trillion, to the National Assembly for urgent consideration and approval.
This development comes after the Supreme Court nullified the previously passed state budget. Rivers State has been under a state of emergency since March 18, 2025, leading to the suspension of all legislative activities by the State House of Assembly.
In light of the crisis, President Tinubu suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and all elected members of the Rivers State Assembly for six months. He also appointed retired Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas as the Sole Administrator to oversee the state’s affairs.
Citing the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the National Assembly has taken over the legislative duties of the Rivers State Assembly during the emergency rule.
In the budget breakdown, President Tinubu earmarked N324 billion for infrastructure, N166 billion for healthcare, N75.6 billion for education, and N31.4 billion for agriculture. He noted that the agricultural sector is projected to create about 6,000 jobs in the state.
President Tinubu urged the National Assembly to expedite the passage of the budget, emphasizing that swift approval is critical to ensuring stability, development, and service delivery in Rivers State during this transitional period.
