Police Rescue Robbery Suspects From Mob Action in FCT
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued two suspected “one-chance” robbery suspects from a mob attack in the Utako area of Abuja.
According to the police, the suspects were apprehended by members of the public after allegedly attempting to rob unsuspecting commuters. However, before the situation could escalate, operatives of the FCT Police Command swiftly intervened and rescued the suspects from being lynched by an angry mob.
Confirming the incident, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, warned residents against taking the law into their own hands, describing jungle justice as dangerous and unlawful. She emphasized that suspects should always be handed over to the police for proper investigation and prosecution.
SP Adeh stated that preliminary investigations are ongoing and assured the public that efforts are being intensified to track down other accomplices connected to the suspected robbery operation.
The police spokesperson further reiterated the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the FCT, while urging residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
She also appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement officers and allow due process to take its course, stressing that mob action could lead to the loss of innocent lives.
