Police rescue kidnapped farmer in Edo
The Edo State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped victims.
News Telly reports that the victims were rescued by the operatives of Irrua Divisional Headquarters in Esan Central Local Government Area at Ugbegun and Usugbenu forests.
Commissioner of Police Funsho Adegboye, who disclosed this to journalists in Benin City, gave the names of the rescued victims as Osemuanhu Iluobe and 47-year-old Emmanuel Ehizuenlen Oziegbe.
The police commissioner, who said Osemuanhu Iluobe, a farmer, was kidnapped along with one Emuanta from their farm in Ugbegun Forest, added that while the former was rescued, the latter was still in captivity.
He said operatives of the Irrua Division, upon receiving the reports of the abduction, mobilised and embarked on vigorous bush combing operations.
He added that the operation resulted in the rescue of Osemuanhu Iluobe, while efforts are ongoing to rescue the other victims and arrest the suspects.
Adegboye also disclosed the rescue of Emuanta Ehizuenlen Oziegbe by the police operatives, following vigorous bush combing operations in collaboration with the vigilante group and hunters.
He said the victim was rescued unharmed, while the chain and padlock used in tying him were recovered.
He assured that efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.
