Police Rescue Abducted Kebbi Varsity Student

Operatives of the Kebbi State Police Command have rescued a kidnapped student of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi.
The victim, identified as Augustine Madubiya, a 23-year-old student of the Department of Economics, was rescued unhurt from Dakingari forest in the early hours of Thursday.
According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, “the rescue followed credible intelligence received by the Command.
“Acting on the tip-off, the Divisional Police Officer of Dakingari led a combined team of police officers and vigilante members into the forest on a search and rescue mission.
“Upon sighting the security personnel, the kidnappers abandoned the victim and fled.”
Madubiya was abducted on April 8, 2025, at Unguwar Jeji, Kalgo Local Government Area.
“Following his rescue, he was immediately taken to a medical facility for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition. He will be reunited with his family once discharged,” the statement further read.
Commending the effort, the Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, praised the bravery and professionalism of the rescue team, reiterating the Command’s unwavering commitment to the safety and security of all residents of Kebbi State.
The statement further read, “Following the incident, CP Sani visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment.
“He also convened a high-level security meeting with key stakeholders, including the Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Sen. Abubakar Umar Tafidan Kabi, and the Vice Chancellor of Federal University Birnin Kebbi, Professor Muhammad Umar Zayyanu. The meeting focused on enhancing security around off-campus student accommodations.”
The command urged Kebbi residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies promptly.
